Stagecraft is coming to USFCAM, and this mysterious show is stirring a lot of hype! Set to open it’s doors Friday, June 10th, Stagecraft promises to serve both the strange and stimulating to curb your contemporary art appetite with hearty courses of ceramic, cinematic and theatric expression.

Stagecraft will feature works by artists Brian Bress, Deville Cohen, Kate Gilmore, and Mary Reid Kelly.

The showcase includes, “Buster,” a video installation by Kate Gillmore that features 200 ceramic pots created by USF art students. These vases are filled with paint and destroyed in a toss of pottery chips and purple and white acrylic.

Here’s more on the show:

Stagecraft brings together a group of artists who share an impulse to re-imagine and re-script our relationships to everyday objects and characters. Working with a do-it-yourself directness across the fields of sculpture, theater, performance, cinematography and animation, the artists in Stagecraft delve into absurdity to make the familiar strange once again In the process, they present us with a skillful meditation on art-‐making itself.Click here for more, or download the Stagecraft press release.
